Grill Night/Thursday Nights in the Garden Bar :: Briz

Enjoy outdoor grilled steaks cooked to perfection at any size you request or grilled eafood while listening to great music at our covered outdoor Garden Patio by the waterfalls!  Our entertainment, Briz, is a soulful performer of his original songs as well as those of the genres of Dylan, Springsteen and Neil Young.  Guitarist "Briz" blends both pop sensibility and folk tradition to create lyrics that are uniquely memorable and music that is commercially accessible yet brutally poignant. He plays guitar, ukulele, and banjo and adds a bluesy style of harmonica to many of his songs. A relative newcomer to Americana music, Briz has already shared the stage with such great acts as The Lovin' Spoonful, Gin Blossoms, The Band’s Jim Weider, Colleen Sexton, Small Potatoes, Leslie Ritter & Scott Petito, Bill Kirchen (lead guitarist for Commander Cody), Girls from Mars, and more!

Briz is a 2001 Philadelphia Folk Factory Peoples Choice Winner! Visit www.brizsongs.com for more info.

New Year's Eve

We had a pretty special evening New Year’s Eve at The Stockton Inn, as we rang in 2010 with a bang and a bash.

Karl Dietel performed in the Glass Room from 8:30 until 12:30. Best known as the keyboard player for the road-warrior band The Samples, Karl has played nationwide, including at Red Rocks in Colorado!

We had the ball drop broadcast from Times Square on a 50” plasma in the Glass Room, and in addition to the great entertainment, we had some terrific additions to our regular menu.

As a way of saying thanks to all of those who have supported the Inn in 2009, there was no cover charge for the entertainment. Take a look at the New Year's Eve gala at the Stockton Inn with some coverage we had from famous glamorous TV personality, actress, and model, Cognac Wellerlane from Cognac’s Corner at www.cognacscorner

2nd Annual Stockton Inn Liar’s Contest, Friday, January 29th 8:00pm
We are calling for all tales of phony hairpieces, emergency room mishaps, and awkward first dates. Won’t you join us for a night of tall tales and big laughs? In the Glass Room, storytellers will take the stage to spin the wackiest web conceivable. Last year a crowd of 30 packed the house despite snow and sleet. Would you like to tell your own story? The only rules are that the recitation must be under 6 minutes long, (reasonably) appropriate, and of course, utterly fabricated. A 3 panel judge will give the ruling on best story, and the winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Stockton Inn. Reservations are recommended, and signing up to confess your lies must be done by at least the 28th. Call 609-397-1250 to save your place!

Lucille Carr-Kaffashan
Sunday, March 7 at 6:30pm

Lucille Carr-Kaffashan brrought her critically acclaimed cabaret show, Finding Home, to the historic Stockton Inn. She appeared with her musical director and accompanist, David Brunetti.

Finding Home brings the listener on a nostalgic journey that explores our various concepts of “home”. The program reflects Lucille’s diverse musical interests, featuring selections from musical theater giants such as Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, and Cole Porter, alongside those of contemporary singer-songwriters such as Randy Newman, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Neil Sedaka, and Annie Dinerman. In his Cabaret Hotline Online review of Finding Home on 10/15/09, Stu Hamstra wrote that Lucille “has truly moved into that select group of seasoned, confident and expressive vocalists that make up the cream of NYC cabaret. Relaxed and at ease, every note true, every lyric clear, every intention fulfilled, Lucille glowed with warmth and feeling”. On 11/8/09 Laurie Lawson, from electroniclink.com, wrote: “With a soothing emotionally-loaded voice, she defines “home” in a variety of ways…..The music flows, the story unfolds, and Carr-Kaffashan makes you feel right at home with her many talents”.

Saint Patrick's Day, Wednesday, March 17

You could say that the Luck'o'the Irish was responsible for the many festivities we celebrated at the Inn, or maybe it's just that Fred found a four leaf clover! Either way, we honored Saint Patrick with some traditional Celtic food and merriment.  “Whiskey Johnny”, an Irish acoustic rock duo plalyed for the evening. And all day long we served corned beef and cabbage, and shepherd's pie!  For dessert, our chef prepared Irish Soda Bread and Irish Potatoes. Kiss the Blarney Stone!

Janellen Farmer & Gene Cavanaugh
Friday March 19th and Saturday March 20th
Both evenings at 8:00 PM

The area's favorite Leprechauns, Janellen Farmer and Gene Cavanaugh, returned to the Stockton Inn with a new St Patrick's Day Show on Friday, March 19th and Saturday, March 20th at 8:00 PM! They were joined by Jeff McDonnell, Musical Director, and Special Guest, Sheila McCaffrey for an evening of great Irish music and merriment. Traditional Irish songs along with more contemporary music, songs made popular by Irish American artists, a few surprises, and an old fashioned pub-style sing-a-long make this fun show one you won't want to miss in the future. Janellen Farmer and Gene Cavanaugh have long been Cabaret favorites, and have sung in such august venues as New York's Carnegie Hall, and Philadelphia's Academy of Music, to great acclaim. This show is always a sell out!

Winter's Last Gasp Luau in the Outdoor Heated Garden Bar, Friday, March 19

We had it with winter & finally recovered from the back sprain and shoulder tendonitis after shoveling out our driveways, just to have the snowplow bury you back in!  We had a celebration & kicked the cold and snow out the door and sent Old Man Winter packing! Taking the reverse idea of "Christmas in July," we celebrated the end of the dreary season with live entertainment from 2001 Philadelphia People's Choice winner "Briz," the famed Strackhouse Grill Night, and summertime drink specials. Briz played from 7-10:30pm, Fred grilled all the steaks and seafood, and all tall mojitos, margaritas, and pina coladas were $8.00. To a fully packed Stockton Inn, we said no to snow, and hello to 2010 Summer in the outdoor heated Garden Bar at the Stockton Inn!
